I was watching Salem's audition tape and thought to myself "hmm, this sounds familiar." Having a passion for fashion, fitness and music, Salem represents the male epitome of what I'd like to be when I grow up (or, well, I'm grown, and I have this blog), but anyway...
Salem's so cool he's the first Canadian to ever close down the subway and display his label off the TTC, which explains why his brand (and image consulting) would be admired enough to be touched by phenomenons such as Lady GaGa and Ciara. He also keeps in shape with his 5 year professional dancing experience and his personal training certificate.
Being so career-driven and ambitious, Salem understands the tenacity and trepidation involved in keeping a mainstream audience's attention sustained towards reality television. However, he also realizes how crucial it is to offer something fresh and different - even higher morality to its "sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll" lifestyle. "I want to bring value to TV," Salem says. "There's so much diversity in Toronto/Canada, but people try to stick to only one niche" (i.e. clubbing, drinking, etc.).
I think Salem offers the perfect combination of necessary amusement i.e. his fast-paced job and collected seriousness i.e. the purpose of the show.
